It seems to me that the School of Architecture and Planning at MIT -- like all great academic institutions -- is an extraordinarily complex, diverse, sometimes contentious, always evolving and transforming place. We put our trust in the most extravagantly talented and passionately dedicated people we can find, and we expect that they will frequently lead us off in surprising new directions. They do. We wouldn't have it any other way.
